160g Sulguni Cheese


This is a stretched curd cheese, of the fresh variety, closely related to Mozzarella. Produced from all-natural local ingredients.It is made from cow's milk and has a low salt content. The unique property of Sulguni is its layered texture. These layers and high moisture content give the cheese a distinctly succulent mouthfeel, which is not to be found in any cheese except very fresh Mozzarella. Won Gold in the 2009 Cheese Awards.

Colchis Ltd is dedicated to bringing Sulguni, a traditional Georgian cheese, to the New Zealand market for the first time. This unique cheese is much loved across Eastern Europe, but unknown in New Zealand. It is best to take it out of its original packaging; put in fridge on a plate covered with plastic wrap or in a plastic container. Consume within a few days if intending to us as a table cheese. Tastes best when at room temperature. You can microwave for a few seconds in order to warm it up. Use in cooking after a week as its texture changes and it melts better than it does when fresh. Don't overcook, as it can become rubbery, so put into your hot dishes only a few minutes before they are ready. Use fresh Sulguni in marinades and salads, and cooking with Sulguni - use in pizzas, omelettes & sandwiches.
